DAMAGE

Most of the garments we repair have damage which results from the moth.  When a garment is hung in a closet for storage, moths find a nesting place on the wool.  The wool is food for their babies when they hatch.  Cashmere is especially vulnerable, because moths are attracted to the finer fibers of this type of wool.

PREVENTION

The best defense is a good offense.  HAVE YOUR GARMENTS CLEANED.  In addition to cleaning, storing your garments in an environment that smells of cedar will keep moths away.  Cedar chips or blocks will do the trick.  Be aware that when the cedar looses its scent its effectiveness for repelling moths is also lost.

Cedar chips or blocks can be purchased at any department store.
